In the last couple of decades, aerial platforms and manlifts have become a common sight in industrial maintenance applications and on construction job sites. These machines provide an easy way to lift employees near what needs to be performed on a stable platform apparatus, allowing employees to perform tasks with greater safety and comfort rather than being perched on top of scaffolding or ladders.
The manlift is like other industrial devices in that they are safe if utilized correctly. Because they elevate workers above floor or ground level, accidents can easily occur and this may result in serious injuries or death for both the operators of the manlift and whoever passerby who might not be lucky enough to be standing beneath.
Manlifts come in various types. Nearly all fit into 1 or 2 categories: the scissor lift, which is capable of moving up and down and the articulating boom lift, that can move both horizontally and vertically.
