Barrie Crane Operator Classes - For the supervisors and the operators, new and current, the crane operator training course is suitable for all. Course content addresses relevant federal, provincial and state safety regulations. The training's first component involves comprehensive in-class instruction and examination. Following that is a hands-on customized session with practical lessons and assessment.
The content of the course applies to all categories and types of overhead lifting crane equipment. The instruction would specifically focus on all aspects of crane operation which could be carried out at the trainee's workplace. Upon completing the course, trainees would learn how to operate particular overhead lifting machines, related parts and attachments efficiently and safely.
The purpose of the operator course is to identify any potentially dangerous habits which an operator might develop when operating an overhead crane. Costly damage to products and equipment could be prevented with proper practices. Training reduces the likelihood of a workplace incident or injury taking place.
The length of the course is eight hours of classroom instruction followed by a few hours of customized, on-site, hands-on training. Participants would be graded on their understanding of training material via an assessment of their practical knowledge and written tests. The minimum acceptable score is 80 percent.
In the in-class session, participants would know applicable legislation and guidelines, causes of damages and occurrences, internal responsibility, danger awareness, capacity ratings/load weight calculations, basic equipment and design principles, safe hosting/operating methods, pre-shift equipment inspections, equipment applications/rigging, kinds of hardware, hitches and angles, pedestrian/operator safety, hand signals for slingers and operators, flipping/turning loads safely.
The customized practical training and evaluation session should be pre-scheduled. It will be held at the trainees' facility following completion of the in-class session. The duration of this practical training part is one to two hours. Two operators at a time would be trained by the instructor on skills like correct rigging practices, safe operation and planning the lift.
After completing both the practical training and evaluation and the in-class instruction, the trainee will be tested via an exam. Each and every participant would be required to sign the safety rules. Individual wallet certificates would be given to trainees who are successful. A framed wall certificate would be provided to the company.
